Pigment disorders

Melasma

Melasma is an enhanced deposit of melanin, particularly on the cheeks, forehead, chin and the upper lip. Women who are pregnant or who have taken hormonal contraceptives are most commonly affected.

Special types of medication, herbal skin care products and photo sensitizers, and a certain genetic predisposition may trigger a pigment disorder.

Treatment methods

Treatment requires patience and discipline. However successful results can be achieved thanks to modern lasers and peelings, along with consistent sun protection and depigmenting skin care.
